Search Options

The first set of options available outside of a basic search on the EBSCO front end is the Search Options button. Pressing the button will open the tab above in your window. This allows for some more in-depth actions to be taken in your search and will help you refine your results. The way the results may be refined are generous in allowing you to pinpoint generic terms or specific phrases relating to desired information.

Some of the features of the Search Options button:
Search Modes and Expanders: Search Modes and Expanders allows for narrowing or broadening the search terms and their relevant information. This includes the default of finding all search terms entered, finding any search terms, phrase searches, and SmartText searching. Aside from that, you can also check mark boxes that will aide by applying related words and an searching within full article text.
Result Limitations: Under the border labeled Limit Your Results you will find some of the most helpful factors in contributing to a successful search. These factors allow for you to search specific dates of publication, full text available options, numbers of pages, image quick view availability  and even single out specific publications and whether or not your results will limit itself to Academic Journals.

While the options presented may be very informative and may aid your search, there are other options for refining search results as well. The other primary option, and my personal favorite to use, is the Advanced Search option, which is featured on the next page. Which will also include a reading of the basic practices and options available to users.
